Stalin’s Daughter: The Extraordinary and Tumultuous Life of Svetlana Alliluyeva

Author: Rosemary Sullivan

Born to a father who most certainly can be described as evil, Svetlana grew up sheltered and innocent. She lost almost all of her family and inevitably, she was slowly exposed to the brutality of the father’s regime that killed her family members and up to 50 million people.

This story focused on the humanity of a woman, who despite everything, searched for love, truth and acceptance all her life. She risked her life to escape the Soviet Union. She was an intellectual and yet a peasant at heart; finding peace in simple things. I found this a compelling and tragic book and admired Svetlana’s tenacity, political insight and strength to face yet another day, despite the hardships that always seemed to find her. I’d like to think that she would be pleased with how this book portrayed her true heart.

“Epic in scope, it’s a revolutionary biography of a woman doomed to be a political prisoner of her father’s name.”Amazon.
